My JCrew Gloves

I attempted to make me a set of JCrew gloves. I figured that at least I was knitting, even if I was still trying to recover from my Durrow Disaster. Unfortunately, even though I dropped down to the size needle I was supposed to use, they were still too big for me. I'm thinking I need to go with a lighter weight yarn, and an even smaller needle.

I'm re-thinking my yarn purchases tomorrow. Unless I get my official discount, I can't afford 3 skeins, so I may just spend money on the two skeins, and wait a payday or so to buy more Durrow Cardigan yarn. Once I get back into it, I'm going to fly through skeins!

JCrew Gloves

I thought you might like to see the look on my husband's face when he tried on his gloves Christmas morning:

These were made of Misti Alpaca Suri & Silk DK (80% Alpaca, 20% Silk). It is fabulous to work with; it feels good in my hands, and has a bit of a fuzzy texture without getting too girly.

Seriously though, I really love this yarn. I'm wanting to buy a bag of it in Hematite to make a scarf, a set of gloves, and a hat for a friend of mine. Its cold in Colorado, and he'd appreciate the gesture.

I finished the JCrew Gloves I was knitting for my husband's Christmas gift! Those were a really quick knit! I'm thinking it took me about 5 or 6 hours per glove which means they were an easy weekend project. It took just over a skein to make both gloves in Misti Alpaca's Suri Silk DK.

I'm thinking if I buy another skein, I'll have enough to make me a pair to match! I may live in Florida, but they keep the office at sub-zero temperatures. My hands get cold and it is hard to crank out huge amounts of programming code with frozen knuckles.

On the other hand, I LOVE this yarn, and I have to make a scarf/glove set for him for valentines day. Perhaps I should just stop by Webs and order enough for him. I'll check with A Stitcher's Haven and see if I can just order a bag of Hematite to keep him cozy this winter.
